has released the first images of the top-down version of their stunning sports car.
"The Vantage Roadster adds to the unbeatable thrill of open air motoring and, by combining engineering excellence, technical innovation and physical perfection, will ensure every journey is one to remember," says Aston Martin Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ulrich Bez.
Mirroring the car's spirited performance, the fully-automated top opens or closes in all of 18 seconds.
Aston Martin says that while the V8 Vantage convertible's weight has increased slightly due to chassis stiffening, the car's performance equals that of the hardtop – 0- 100 kmh (62 mph) in only 5.0 sec. with a top speed of 175 mph.
Two transmissions will be offered: a standard 6-speed manual and an optional automatic transmission with manual gear selection capability.
Pricing has yet to be announced but may be disclosed later this month when the car is publicly unveiled for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The V8 Vantage Roadster joins a venerable lineup of outstanding, hand-built Aston Martin's – the V8 Vantage Coupe, the and the Vanquish S.
