Take a Tour Through Japan's Extremely Intense Car Culture

Just about any car subgenre you can think of has a dedicated fan base in Japan.

Japanese car culture is as varied as it gets. Any type of car you could possibly imagine has its own scene in Japan, full of enthusiasts willing to show just how much they love their rides.

New Zealand drift star Michael Whiddett (otherwise known as "Mad Mike") wanted to experience the custom car culture of Japan for himself, so he visited a handful of interesting people and shops throughout the country, and filmed the entire trip for us to see.

Among the car-modding entrepreneurs Whiddett visits during his trip is Liberty Walk founder Wataru Kato. Kato's work modifying supercars with outlandish widebody designs—Lamborghinis in particular—has made his firm incredibly well-known in the car world.
