If you've ever gone on a test drive before, you'll know it only tells a part of the story. Whether a car is new or used, there's no real way to test the car's limits without scaring off the seller (or dealership salesperson) in the passenger seat. This Subaru dealer seems to have solved that issue.

Gerald Subaru of Naperville, Illinois has a nine-acre, $1.5-million test track on its property, used for showing off cars to potential buyers. It features things like an uphill section with a 10-percent grade, a simulated railroad crossing, a rough-road section with embedded boulders, and even an irrigated skidpad. Sure, it's not nearly as extensive as something like Porsche's experience center in Atlanta—but it's still a whole lot better than having to go out on crowded public roads to test a car.

It's a great idea for letting people truly see how well a car can perform in certain high-stress scenarios, all in a controlled, closed-off environment with minimal risk of traffic and no pedestrians or cyclists to worry about. We wish every dealer had something like this.
