RUF cars are some of the coolest performance machines you can own, but they don't often pop up for sale in the US thanks to the company's low build numbers. This 2006 RT12-S is the only one of its kind here, and it's . You should buy it.
Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.
The RT12 is based on the 997-generation Porsche 911 Carrera, specifically a narrow-body base Carrera. Aside from the obvious exterior modifications (splitter, wing, rear fenders, bumpers, etc.), the car houses a RUF-designed 641-hp 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six sending power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. It also has a bespoke suspension setup with a hydraulic front-axle lift, and a set of lovely multi-piece wheels. In 2009, the car was sent back to RUF's facility in Germany to be upgraded to "S" specs and repainted from silver to matte black. The seller claims it now offers up 685 hp and a 224-mph top speed.
While the exterior is nice, it's the interior that really stands out. It's done up with stunning dark brown leather, with a custom RUF steering wheel, RUF bucket seats, and even brown carpeting.
This particular car was previously owned by current New York-to-Los Angles Cannonball Run record-holder Ed Bolian. In , Bolian claimed that this car is one of just four RT12s in the United States, and the only one to be upgraded to RT12-S specifications. It's up for sale right now at a dealership called Dallas Motorsports in Texas . If you've been waiting for an ultra-special RUF to pop up on your radar, this is the perfect candidate. Better act fast.
