It seems if you want a cool new truck with a bunch of features, the default choice is the Ford F-150 Raptor. It has all the kit needed to go fast on- and off-road. But what if you don't want a Raptor? Well, this Shelby-modified F-150 is on a whole different level, and . You should buy it.
Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.
This 2018 Shelby F-150 is one of just 500 examples modified by Shelby American, equipped with a whole bunch of performance-minded upgrades to show off to your Raptor-driving pals. Instead of an Ecoboost V6, it uses Ford's 5.0-liter V8 with a supercharger attached, using upgraded injectors, a big aluminum intercooler, and a carbon fiber intake tube. It makes 755 horsepower—over 300 horsepower more than the Raptor. Other upgrades include a ram-air hood, a new fascia, Shelby-branded interior trim, Shelby wheels, all-terrain tires, a Borla exhaust, and Shelby-tuned Fox Racing shocks with remote reservoirs. There's also a plethora of Shelby badges, in case you haven't noticed. Like every new F-150, there are a ton of standard comfort features like Ford's Sync infotainment system, a backup camera, and heated and ventilated seats.
According to the seller, Koons Sterling Ford in Virginia, this particular Shelby F-150 is number 340 out of 500. It's painted black, and still has the window sticker mounted on the passenger-side window. It's —more than double the starting MSRP for a new Raptor. That may sound like a lot for a custom Ford truck, but considering all the upgrades you get, as well as where you're getting them from, we'd say it's pretty reasonable.
