Porsche plans to bring some pretty amazing pieces from its Le Mans racing history for the , happening from September 25 to 27 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Guests of honor will include the Porsche Factory LMP1 team and professional racing drivers such as Patrick Long, Jorg Bergmeister, and Mark Webber. Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy, winners at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be joining them as well.
Serving as co-grand marshals of the event are Jacky Ickx (F1, Le Mans, Can-Am, and Paris-Dakar champion) and Hurley Haywood (Le Mans champion, chief instructor of the Porsche Sport Driving School, and all-around Porsche legend).
But the fun doesn't stop there. Among the cars Porsche plans to bring from the Porsche museum in Stuttgart are the 1962 Porsche 718, the 1987 Porsche 962, the 1995 Porsche WSC95 Spyder, the 1998 Porsche 911 GT1-98, and the the current GTLM 911 RSR and LMP1 919 Hybrid. Even the 917, perhaps our favorite Porsche racer ever, will be there.
The cars will be on display and will conduct periodic show runs around the track. Porsche states there will be 320 race cars on display, with an additional 1,400 Porsche cars, supplied by the Porsche Club of America.
It's shaping up to be the most Porsche-centric weekend ever. Tickets are available .
