It's September 1976, and the venue is Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI for round 1 of IROC IV. The wheelman in this excellent Camaro (, take notice) is none other than British playboy F1 pilot James Hunt. Lined up behind him, in order, are Buddy Baker, Gordon Johncock, and Al Holbert. Baker would go on to win the round; Hunt finished last.
This was the only race in the series that Hunt participated in. (A.J. Foyt would go on on to become IROC champion for the second year in a row.) After the Michigan round, Hunt bailed on IROC to focus on his F1 season. And we know how that movie ends. Just over a month later, the free-spirited Brit was crowned Formula 1 world champion over Niki Lauda at the rain-soaked Japanese Grand Prix.
