In 1988, this Saab 900 SPG had to be one of the coolest cars you could buy, and 30 years later, we don't think it's lost any of its charm. Its crisp three-door liftback shape has aged incredibly well, looking fresh as ever, and its 175 turbocharged horsepower will make it quicker than most anyone expects. A just turned up for sale on eBay, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to place a bid.

The SPG was . Notice the lack of badging in these pictures—there's no glued-on piece of metal declaring that it has a 16-valve turbocharged engine. There isn't even an "SPG" badge. Or a "900" badge. Unlike so many others of its time, the 900 SPG tried to keep its speed a secret. And speed it offered—in its day, the 900 SPG was good for an 8.5-second 0-60 mph run and 130 mph flat-out.
This one presents very nicely in Edwardian Grey, the most popular color for the 1988 900 SPG. It's got a claimed 33,000 miles on its odometer, and the seller says that there's no leaks or any major mechanical issues.
At the time of writing, bidding is up to a little over $5000, with around two days until the auction closes. It could just be your ticket to 1980s hot-hatch performance and style. Aviators not included.
