The Pope was presented with the Lamborghini in a ceremony in Vatican City today, which was attended by company CEO Stefano Domenicali, and other executives. Lamborghini painted this car white with yellow stripes to evoke the flag of Vatican City, and His Holiness signed the hood.
Interestingly, this isn't the first Italian sports car gifted to a Pope—in 2005, Ferrari gave Pope John Paul II , which was auctioned for charity that summer. Ferrari also built in 1988.
RM Sotheby's will auction the Pope's Lamborghini on May 12th, 2018 with proceeds going to Aid to the Church in Need, he Pope John XXIII Community, GICAM, and Friends of Central Africa. Before then, hopefully His Holiness finds some time to do donuts in Vatican City—this Huracan is rear-wheel drive, after all.
