At the Villa Erba 2013 auction, the Maserati Touring Bellagio Fastback returns to the venue of its original unveiling five years ago. This time, the green
Maserati wagon is up for auction, estimated at €80,000 - €120,000 and offered without reserve. It's no ordinary Maserati, if such a thing exists; The
one-off Quattoporte-based wagon was created in 2008 for the former Ducati president, Dr. Carlo Bonomi, by the revered Touring Superleggera company with
roots stretching back to the 1920s. The current Touring outfit is a revival of the old Carrozzeria Touring that ceased operations in 1966, but the name
remains the same iconic one.
The car has a 395-horsepower, 4.2-litre V8 engine as is expected, but in addition to the Quattroporte powertrain the car features a fridge, a dog section
and a gun compartment. It is a true shooting brake, no question.
Since there currently exists no official wagon version of the 2013 Quattroporte, the 2009 car being offered by RM Auctions is a good way to get your
Roadmaster kicks on the Autostrada. And the Touring Bellagio Fastback would look just exquisite with wood-effect paneling on its sides, wouldn't it? Think
about it, the Maserati Truckster di Famiglia. Doesn't it just roll off the tongue?
