Air-cooled 911 prices are insane. They've gone totally nuts in recent years. One of the craziest would have to be the 993-generation 911 GT2. A Riviera Blue example in perfect condition sold for an astounding $2.4 million last year at RM Sotheby's London auction.
Now, RM is offering up another 911 GT2 for sale, but this time around, it's white. Judging by the pictures, it looks in just as perfect condition, with the original wheels, interior, and sweet riveted fender flares.
The 993 GT2 was equipped from the factory with a 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six based on the unit found in the 993 Turbo. In GT2 spec, it sends 430 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
Exterior upgrades to the GT2 include unique bumpers, wheels, front and rear wings, and of course, the aforementioned fender flares. Inside you'll find a three-spoke steering wheel, bucket seats, and pull-strap door handles. This is one hardcore 911.
RM Sotheby's expects to rake in $1,100,000 to $1,400,000 at its New York auction in December—though we wouldn't trust the estimate too much. RM estimated that Riviera Blue car to sell around the same price, and look what happened then.
We'll see just how high the air-cooled market will go once this car crosses the block. Get your checkbook ready.
