The 1980s Isuzu Impulse is one of those weird, obscure cars you forget about until you see one driving down the road and remember how cool it is. You almost never see them for sale, but when you do, they're either in perfect condition and absurdly expensive, or rotted out and headed for the junkyard. This one is right in between, in good, running condition but far from perfect. It's for a shockingly reasonable price. You should buy it so I don't have to.
Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.
This 1984 Impulse popped up on eBay Motors with a Buy It Now price of just $2500 last week. The ad went down, but today, it reappeared for the same price. The car is located in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, and looks totally stock, right down to those excellent square-pattern "waffle" wheels. The engine is a 1.9-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder that sends power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The body looks clean, as does the cloth interior—though it looks like it could use a vacuum.
Of course, being just $2500, the car needs a few things. According to the seller's description, the clutch needs replacing, and the headliner is sagging. It also needs a driveshaft bushing. But if that's all that's wrong with it, I'd say it's still priced fairly, even after considering the 159,532 odometer reading and seven-owner history. Finding these cars in good condition for this kind of money isn't easy. Honestly, if I didn't already have my regrettable Miata, I'd seriously consider picking this car up myself—it is just a few hours away from me, after all.
