Out of all the obscure German tuners out there, Koenig has got to be one of the greatest. It's created some truly wild vehicles—everything from wide-body Jaguar XJSs to twin-turbo Ferrari F50s. This 520-horsepower Ferrari 348 is another wild creation by Koenig, and it's for sale. You should buy it.
Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.
This car started life as a standard 1990 Ferrari 348ts, but was transformed into what Koenig calls an "F48." The rear looks like it was taken from an F40, and the stunning OZ wheels are color-matched to the body. The front got a bigger, smoother bumper, while the inside remained largely unmodified (aside from some contrast yellow piping along the carpet). The brakes are carbon ceramic in the front, and steel in the back. In case you're curious, yes, it still has a targa-style removable roof panel.
The biggest change is to the engine. The car's 3.4-liter V8 is equipped with a pair of Garrett T3 turbochargers, along with a massive intercooler and a new ECU. It now makes 520 horsepower—a massive step up from the original 320 horsepower. Power is still sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed gated manual transmission. Honestly, this thing looks like a handful to drive. But we love it.
According to the sellers at Furlonger Specialist Cars in the United Kingdom, the car is in perfect working condition, and has a long service history file included. The odometer reads just 40,622 original miles. This car is allegedly one of just two right-hand drive F48s produced by Koenig, making this a truly rare find. It's (around $190,000 at current exchange rates) right now. Better act fast before it's gone for good.
