When it comes to cruising, it's hard to beat an old Benz. They're comfortable, spacious, and look the part. Jayesh Patel, subject of this latest video, knows this well, which is why he loves his 1968 280SE Coupe so much.
Patel got his love of cars from his uncle, who raced in rallies in their home country of Kenya. Since he was a boy, he watched his uncle compete, and even sometimes got picked up from school in the rally car. Patel's father owned a W110 "Fintail," which caused him to fall in love with the Mercedes brand, and the W111 specifically.
After five years of searching, he discovered the car you see here, a right-hand drive pre-production 280SE painted in a lovely shade of blue. It was ordered by the experimental division at Mercedes to test out the new fascia and 3.5-liter V8 engine. It's an incredibly significant example, and judging by Patel's passion, we'd say it's in the right hands.
