Those in the know understand why Spykers are so great. The low-production boutique supercars are full of handcrafted details, lovely engines, and cool shifters. But because so few Spykers exist, many people don't even know what they are. So they ask.
James Chen, the subject of this latest video, owns a 2006 Spyker C8, and encounters curious onlookers often. "What kind of car is it?" is often followed by "What's a Spyker?" The string of questions continues as you'd expect. But he takes the inquiries in stride, because the car is worth it.
The C8 is one of those rare cars that didn't have to conform to big-manufacturer standards. Every piece of the car is finely crafted from expensive, high-quality material. It's only when you get up close can you appreciate the attention to detail, which this video does perfectly.
Considering just a few hundred C8s were ever built, chances are slim you'll ever see one on the road. But if you do happen to run into one, try to think of some original questions to ask the owner. Because they've probably heard the basic ones plenty of times before.
