Nowadays, it seems like you can almost anything with all-wheel drive. Hell, you can even get a Prius . There was once a time when four- or all-wheel drive was a rarity among normal vehicles. Reserved mostly for trucks and SUVs, it was a premium feature found on the top trims of a few select models.
brought a handful of those cars together back in 1987 for a comparison video. It's an interesting look at just how cool all-wheel drive cars could be. Among the cars included are a Honda Civic Wagon, an Audi 5000, a Volkswagen Vanagon, and even a Subaru GL-10 Turbo. I wouldn't kick any of these cars out of my garage.
Since then, all-wheel drive and four-wheel drive systems have become commonplace in pretty much every automaker's lineup, across all types of trim levels. What a difference a few decades makes.
