The Original Audi RS6 Uses a Brutal-Sounding Cosworth V-8

Cosworth really knows what it's doing.

The first-generation Audi RS6 used a V-8 engine co-developed with Cosworth in the UK. It had twin turbos, and made well over 400 horsepower. It was the only generation of RS6 sold in the US, and it sounds fantastic.

Despite being muffled by a pair of turbos, the car still has a deep V-8 rumble. It also makes a bunch of crackles off-throttle, which are addictive to listen to. Here, listen for yourself. And make sure to turn the volume up.
