Hearing what it's like to pilot race cars from your favorite pro driver is one thing, but hearing about the experience from someone who doesn't race cars for a living is an experience all its own.
The YouTube channel caught up with Bill Hawe, owner and driver of this IMSA-spec Porsche 962. How can you tell it's an IMSA car? Well, the most obvious hint is the massive hole for the intercooler above the engine. Plus, a quick poke inside the engine bay reveals a single turbocharger, versus twin turbos for the Group C cars that raced in Europe.
Hawe doesn't race cars professionally—only for fun. That's why it's so interesting to hear what he has to say after driving this car. Things like the lack of visibility, stiffness of the springs, and the ground-effect aero all have to be taken into consideration.
