You might know Best Motoring for its on-track comparison tests that pit all sorts of performance cars against each other in wheel-t0-wheel battle. But sports cars aren't the only types of vehicles Best Motoring track-tested. They also found reason to throw luxurious grand-tourers around a circuit, like they did with these two from this 1991 film.
The cars in question, a Toyota Soarer (sold in the US as the Lexus SC) and a rotary-powered Eunos Cosmo, both use automatic transmissions, and look a lot more docile than the cars we usually see Best Motoring testing. But just because these cars weren't built for track duty doesn't mean they can't mix it up.
After some road testing, the cars in this filmed review are taken to Tsubaka circuit in Japan to see which is quicker. What follows is three laps of tire squeal, body roll, and and faint engine noises. It might not be as outright exciting as watching Ferraris and Porsches go head-to-head, but it's still a ton of fun to watch. Here, check it out:
