A Land Rover Discovery 200TDI that competed —an off-road event that pits teams from different countries against each other in the harshest of terrains—has come up for sale in Long Island, New York. The truck, built in 1991 and used by the Belgian team, is unrestored, and retains its scuffs, markings, and original tires from the event.
Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.
In addition to the wear and tear, the yellow-painted Discovery comes equipped with the original roll cage, rally computer, tools, sand ladders, and Pelican travel cases used during the race. Though team Switzerland took the overall win in 1992, the Belgian team of Marc Sarens and Robrecht De Meyer managed to keep their truck running and finished.
, the truck remains in good running condition, with 39590 miles on the odometer. It's equipped with a four-cylinder turbodiesel connected to a manual transmission.
Though may sound steep for an old Discovery, we'd have a hard time finding one with more historic significance than this. Plus, it looks awesome—shouldn't that count for something?
