Jaguar Land Rover certainly understands that the classic market is worth investing in. After building a few continuation series Jaguar E-Type Lightweight coupés and XKSS roadsters, the company also announced that their leading Defender experts will restore any Series 1 Land Rover, after its modern counterpart went out of production a year ago. And now, the time has come for the first Range Rover to shine once again.

Initially, Land Rover Classic will restore ten examples of the world's first luxury SUV, advising customers of the best options for base vehicle, in terms of collectability, preferred chassis numbers and unique characteristics. With prices for completed Range Rover Reborn restorations starting from £135,000 ($170,000), it's certainly not the cheapest way of getting a classic Range Rover but you still save $20,000 over a new Range Rover SVAutobiography. And this one is lighter:
The demo car is a 1978 Range Rover in Bahama Gold, with a Zenith-Stromberg-carbureted 3.5-liter V8 that produces 132 horsepower at 5000 rpm, and 186 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm. Connected to that is a 4-speed manual with a lockable central differential. As you'd expect, it's perfect in every way:
The Range Rover was launched in 1970, originally in two-door configuration, which got replaced by the factory four-door in 1981. This practical version remained so popular that Land Rover kept it in production for almost two years alongside the second generation, which was introduced in 1994.
Is $170,000 expensive for an old SUV? Yes, but you can't argue with the results.
