As far as fast Audi wagons go, the RS2 Avant is perhaps the most famous. It was the company's first "RS" (Racing Sport) model, a line which has since spawned a multitude of fantastic cars. This onboard video is here to show you just how exciting Audi's first RS wagon is, even 22 years later.
Collaboratively designed alongside Porsche, the RS2 featured a 2.2-liter inline five-cylinder engine that made 311 horsepower at 6500 rpm, spinning a six-speed manual transmission. Thanks to its Quattro all-wheel-drive, the RS2 could accelerate from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds, and achieve a top speed of more than 160 mph.
Porsche designed both the braking and suspension for the RS2, adding huge Brembo four-piston calipers and lowering the ride height by 40 millimeters. The wheels and side mirrors were taken straight from a Porsche 964 Turbo, and as a result, "PORSCHE" inscriptions are scattered around the car.
Youtuber got the chance to hop in the driver's seat of a blue RS2 and hit some winding roads to show us how great the RS2 is to drive. Watch for yourself as he flies through the tree-lined European roads. Even though it's more than two decades old, the RS2's performance still impresses.
