Here's Another Chance to See the Best Car Show You Didn't Watch

Car Matchmaker was one of the most fun car shows on TV. If you never saw it, here's a chance to finally check it out.

There are a lot of bad car TV shows out there. You can probably count the good ones on one hand. The problem is that in the sea of car garbage, some good shows get missed, like the former Esquire Network's Car Matchmaker, which is hosted by former Seinfeld writer and friend of R&T Spike Feresten.

When the Esquire Network shut down, we thought that would be the end of Car Matchmaker, which would have been a shame. It was one of the few car shows out there that didn't try to force chemistry or copy the formula that worked for Top Gear and nobody else. It was original and legitimately fun to watch.

The premise, as you might have guessed from the name, has our pal Spike give people in the market for a new ride options on what might be the best new car. And, thankfully, he doesn't just recommend Camrys. Since he's an R&T reader and Porsche buff, the cars that he typically suggests are what you, the enthusiast, would tell a friend to buy. That means there's always a wildcard thrown in there for good measure.

This weekend, the show moves to NBC SN where it'll air for the first time Sunday, October 1st, at 7 pm est, and there'll be a marathon on October 3rd starting at 8 pm est.

Why should you watch? Well, first, if you never saw the show and need a new car-adjacent program to fill your time, it's worth a try. Secondly, if you watch it and like it, you can take a bad car show out of your rotation and replace it with this. That way you don't torture yourself with subpar car shows any more. And, hey, if enough of you watch it, there's always the chance that more new episodes will be made.

That's good for all of us.
