This weird drag race is a lot more interesting than you might think.

If you can get past the comically bright green paint, the Mercedes-AMG GT R is one of the most serious track-ready supercars for sale today. Its 577 horsepower V8 is one of our favorites, and the nine-position traction control is true motorsport quality. There's a reason why it was, by far, the quickest car we had on track during testing for our 2018 Performance Car of the Year.

The Renault Twizy is as far from an AMG GT R as you can get. It's a narrow, two seat (one in front, one in back), electric city car that's at home on narrow European streets, not European race tracks. It doesn't really have a chance against an AMG GT R in a race, unless that race is through alleys in Budapest.

However, there might be another way for it to win. The guys from Top Gear got the two cars together on a runway for a drag race. The AMG had to do the entire race in reverse, while the Twizy did it in drive. And the race is far closer than you might think.
