Still trying to figure out what the hell Matthew McConaughey is talking about in those commercials? We'd suggest re-watching HBO's True Detective—Matty clearly is channeling crusty and abstruse Rust Cohle for the Lincoln spots—but that might only add to your confusion.
One thing's certain: Lincoln has the actor's enigmatic . As Cohle might say, "everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over again." As a normal person might say, Lincoln has tapped McConaughey again, this time for a pair of ads.
The commercials are make their television debuts during New Year's Day college football, and see McConaughey shining some of his star power onto the
Ford Fusion Super Mega Titanium Ultimate Lincoln MKZ range. The more dialogue-heavy of the two ads, "Balance", covers the MKZ hybrid:
Considerably more brief, the second ad,"Diner", opens with McConaughey sitting in a café waiting out a rainstorm. When it stops, McConaughey flicks his glass of water, gets up, steps into the MKZ, and opens the sedan's signature giant $2995 sunroof, stating "There we go."
What do the ads mean? We don't really care. We're just waiting for the inevitable, excellent spoofs.
