First produced in 1985, the BMW M3 is a legend in the car world. It's seen five generations over the last 30 years, and each generation has its own fan base.
We've seen the M3 powered by an inline four, an inline six, a V8, and now a twin-turbo inline six. No matter what engine sat in the car, the recipe has always been pretty much the same. BMW added a powerful engine to the 3 Series and then tuned the car to handle like a sports car while still retaining most of the civility of the regular 3 Series.
The question is, if you had the opportunity to drive all five M3s back to back, which one do you think would be your favorite? Is it even possible to pick a favorite?
The decided that was a question that needed answering. They got an E30, E36, E46, E92, and F80 M3 together for a drive to see if one stood out above the others.
If you're a BMW fan, consider this an early Christmas present.
