No one has a relationship with the Ford GT quite like Camilo Pardo. He was the lead designer on the iconic 2005 re-creation and the 2002 GT40 concept that preceded it, and he still drives a GT today. In fact, he drives what has to be the coolest looking GT on the planet.
Pardo's an interesting figure in the auto industry–in addition to being a car designer, he's an accomplished painter. That's fully on display with his personal GT, wearing a gorgeous livery he conceived. He's also done , and each one is spectacular.
This video interview by Petrolicious also reveals a lot of interesting behind-the-scenes details from the GT's development. Initially, Ford was working a concept car and production car side-by-side, but before the concept's 2002 auto show debut, the production car was canceled. However, the response to the concept was so overwhelmingly positive that Ford announced the GT would reach production when the concept debuted.
This provides a fascinating insight into one of the most creative people in the auto industry. And, his GT is a thing to behold.
