Matt Farah once uttered a very bold statement, referring to trucks like the Ford Lightning and Dodge Ram SRT-10 and receiving much backlash. Amidst the piles of criticism came was a request from a young man also named Matt, who sent Farah a picture of his tuned GMC Canyon and asked him if he would kindly take it for a drive.
As you might expect, Matt's Canyon is no ordinary truck. He bolted on a rear-mounted STS turbo kit, then upgraded the front brakes, suspension, and anything else that would help turn his Canyon into a performance truck. The result is a fairly normal-looking, lowered truck that puts down about 335 hp and 340 lb-ft of torque running 12 psi of boost, and it will bang in quarter-mile times in the low- to mid-12s. Yes, it's rear-wheel-drive and has an auto 'box, but it's helped by the sticky Nitto tires and a delicate right foot.
A truck may seem like a strange place to start for a build, but when you inherit it while working at In-N-Out like Matt did, some offers are just hard to turn down. Check out the video below to see if this truck has turned a cynical Matt Farah into a believer of the street truck.
