Lamborghini is getting ready to unveil the Urus, the second SUV in its history, later this year. Once it's introduced, it'll easily become the volume model in the company's lineup, which Lamborghini is preparing for with a huge expansion to its Sant Agata factory.
, the Urus will also be incredibly fast. At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini's head of research and development Maurizio Reggiani said that the Urus will have a top speed of at least 187 mph and be the fastest SUV around the Nurburgring. That means beating the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S's 7:59.74 lap time.
It should be doable. Since the Urus will likely be the lightest and most powerful SUV on this architecture from the VW Group, which includes the Cayenne and the Bentayga. The twin-turbo V8 in the Urus should make more power than the old Cayenne Turbo S's 570, with an output rumored to be 650. That's more than the Bentayga's 600 horsepower, and the Urus will likely weigh less, which means it should not only beat its top speed, but its four second run to 60 as well.
We'll see the production Urus later this year when it's revealed on December 4th.
