For this past weekend's Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion, McLaren brought one of its greatest cars over from the UK to put on an incredible show. It was the F1 GTR that stunned the world when it won Le Mans in 1995. McLaren enlisted one of its former drivers, double world-champion Mika Hakkinen, to pilot the F1 around Laguna Seca, and captured the proceedings on in-cockpit video.
As the only McLaren to win Le Mans, this is probably one of the most valuable of the 106 road and race F1s built. Still, Hakkinen doesn't baby the car. After all, he's got to let the crowd hear the F1's incredible 6.1-liter V12 doing its thing.
The video is a rare treat, as this car spends most of its time in the lobby of McLaren's UK facility. We could watch and listen all day, and in fact, we might.
