After it changed rally in the early-to-mid 1980s, Audi entered US sports-car racing in a major way. This was its first car, the 200, a five-cylinder, turbo, all-wheel drive monster built for the Trans Am series.

At the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion last weekend, Zak Brown—yes, the guy who runs McLaren—brought out his 200 Trans Am for a tear around Laguna Seca. It makes all the best turbo noises.
