Bitcoin, the preferred virtual currency for black-market deals on the deep web, can now be used to purchase a car. Beepi, a new peer-to-peer automotive marketplace out of (where else?) San Francisco, announced in July that it would accept the online currency. Beepi thoroughly inspects and photographs a seller's used car, markets it on its site, then sells it in 30 days—and delivers it anywhere in the U.S.—or buys the car directly from the seller. On the decision to allow payment by Bitcoin, Beepi co-founder and CEO Ale Resnik notes that "commerce companies like and Expedia are now accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment." He says the decision came after speaking to multiple buyers to gauge purchase preferences. The move paid off quickly: "The first car sold the day we announced the [Bitcoin] integration," Resnik says.
