Formula E, the all-electric open-wheel racing series sanctioned by the FIA, is coming to New York in two weeks. Its venue is a 13-turn street circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, next to Pier 11 overlooking Governors Island. We've been wondering what the track will look like for awhile, and now, we finally get our first look—virtually, anyway.
The Formula E uploaded a video today of a virtual onboard lap from a driver's perspective of the New York track. Just like any other street circuit, the Red Hook venue is full of tight hairpins and almost no runoff, hopefully making for an exciting watch come race day.
Formula E will hold two races that weekend, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. Of course, the actual track in the below video has yet to be built, so things can change between now and then. We'll just have to wait until July 15th to find out what it looks like for ourselves.
