Ever wonder how much faster racing versions of your favorite cars are than their street-legal counterparts? Well, you don't have to wonder any longer, because Best Motoring is here to show us exactly how much quicker race cars get around a track.
Best Motoring, the Japanese-language car show we all know and love, brought together some of the greatest sports cars back in 1999 for a wheel-to-wheel track battle. What's different about this race is, in addition to the 996 Carrera and Ferrari F355 street cars in the grid, Best Motoring also entered racing versions of those cars to compare.
The 996 GT3 Cup and F355 Challenge cars may look a lot like their license-plated cousins, but an array of suspension, drivetrain, and aero upgrades set them above a normal street car's abilities. As such, they're much faster around a track.
Watch for yourself to see how they compare in this eight-car battle on the famous Tsukuba circuit.
