Autocross is the easiest way to get into racing. Events can cost around $50 to enter, and for that, you get a good amount of seat time on a closed course made with cones in a parking lot. It may not be as glamorous as a track day at Watkins Glen, but you still have fun and learn a lot.
There are a lot of cars perfect for autocrossing, but for me, a Miata is the weapon of choice. It's an obvious pick, I know, but the agility and overall size of the MX-5 make it perfect for any autocross course layout. Plus, because the Miata is so communicative, learning how to adjust your driving and go faster is a lot easier.
Now we want to know: What do you think is the best autocross car? It doesn't have to be something extremely fast or competitive, and it doesn't even have to be a sports car. It just has to be a car you think would make for the perfect autocross machine. Let us know in the comments below.
