A Look Ahead at What to Expect From the 2018 Formula 1 Season

Formula 1 reporter Chris Medland joins our Marshall Pruett for a look at the teams and drivers that head into a 21-race season starting this weekend in Australia.

As one of the prized few who spend the year traveling to each F1 round to cover the championship in its entirety, Chris Medland has seen a few indicators in pre-season testing that color his expectations of what's to come.

On Ferrari: "I think performing better might not be a pipe dream. Performing more consistently might be a pipe dream."

On Lewis Hamilton: "I'm very much of the opinion [his relaxed demeanor] has been carried over. He just does his own thing and Mercedes has created an environment where he can do that. I don't think there's a scenario that unnerves him."

On McLaren's potential turnaround with Renault power units: "I think they needed to be a little bit more humble about how this year is going to be, to be honest. They swapped what was the fourth-best out of four power unit manufacturers [Honda] for the third-best, and that's not going to propel you to the top instantly."
