Hershel McGriff, born December 14th, 1927, has been racing professionally for more than 70 years. Now 90 years old, he's set to drive the #4 South Point Hotel & Casino Toyota of Bill McAnally Racing at this year's NASCAR K&N Pro Series West event at Tucson Speedway in Arizona. What a legend.
McGriff has been part of the Series since its inception in 1954. According to , he's taken 35 wins, 37 poles, 98 top-five and 144 top-10 finishes over 266 races. His last win came at the age of 61, making him the oldest winner in the series. His last race start was at Sonoma Raceway in 2012. McGriff also raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1976 and 1982.
"Who would turn down a free ride in a K&N car built by Bill McAnally Racing?" said McGriff in an interview coinciding with the announcement. "When I get my helmet on, they won’t know who’s in there," he added. "They won’t know whether I’m 90 or 22. They’ll be wondering who was in the car by the end of the race."
