Early rear-wheel drive Ford Escorts were born to go rallying. No matter which event you go to, it seems there's at least one competing, despite the age. But just because we see them all the time doesn't mean we get bored of them. In fact, it's the opposite.
Take this Mk2 Escort spotted at this year's Rally Legend event in San Marino, Italy. It's not much different than any of the other Escorts we've written about in the past, yet, we can't get enough of it. It has a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter engine sending power to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox, and sounds great.
Drivers Frank and Lauren Kelly manage to even catch air on more than one occasion. Being rear-wheel drive, their car certainly isn't the fastest thing in the field, but it sure looks like fun. Check out the full video, complete with in-cabin video, right here.
