The racing version of McLaren's MP4-12C has long been replaced by quicker and more efficient cars, but that doesn't mean we've forgotten about it. Though it's no longer competitive in any top-level road racing series, there's still one place it can race: hill climbs.
Hill climbs have fewer rules to follow, and winning depends a lot on setup and experience rather than who has the shiniest equipment. The driver of this car, 24-year old Pierre Courroye, had a dominant 2018 season on the European hill climb circuit. Having a twin-turbo V8 definitely helps.
The YouTube channel was lucky enough to get some in-cabin footage of one of Courroye's runs behind the wheel, and it's truly a joy to watch. Seeing purpose-built GT3 racing cars fly up a tiny European backroad never gets old. Check it out here.
