After years of waiting, IndyCar is finally racing at Circuit of the Americas in Texas. The March 24th, 2019 event will be the first time the Austin track built for Formula 1 will host IndyCar race, and from the looks of this in-car video, it's going to be a good one.
was able to snag this in-car footage from five-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon's Chip Ganassi Honda during a recent shakedown session at COTA. It's great fun to watch, and an interesting look at how differently IndyCar drivers attack the track compared to their F1 peers. There's a lot less downforce in IndyCar, meaning less grip and a lot more steering input. Lap times are about 14 seconds slower for the IndyCar drivers, according to times recorded so far.
We have a feeling that won't make the racing any less exciting, though. Check out the full video from Dixon's car right here.
