The Nissan GT-R is a massively popular choice among drag racers, and for good reason: Its engine can put out huge amounts of power, while its all-wheel drive powertrain is plenty capable of putting all of that force to the pavement.

Alpha Logic is well known for building record-breaking Nissans, and according to this latest video, the team has just broken the GT-R quarter-mile world record. Take a look at the clip for yourself:

The team's car was able to lay down a quarter-mile time of 6.58 seconds at 232 mph, which is pretty astounding. It tops the previous record of 6.85 seconds, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, was also held by Alpha Logic. The video doesn't outline the car's specs, but if we had to guess, we suspect this thing is making around 3000 horsepower. That may sound like overkill, but it's the kind of numbers you need if you want to get such a big, heavy car down the strip in less than seven seconds.

We're curious just how much farther the GT-R platform can be pushed considering how long it's been around. As Alpha Logic has just shown, people are still finding ways to extract valuable tenths from these machines.
