BMWs make for great drift cars thanks to their front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. Sometimes, though, they need a little help in the powertrain department to get sideways.
Manuel Vacca, builder of this E36-generation M3, knew this. That's why he equipped his car with an S54 straight-six from a later M3, and then turbocharged it. Now, it makes over 600 horsepower, and gets sideways with no trouble at all. One side-effect of the new engine is a wonderful noise. Here, listen for yourself.
