The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R may be designed for track work, but it makes a pretty formidable drag car as well. This one has twin turbos attached to its 5.2-liter Voodoo V-8, and it's making nearly 1500 horsepower to the wheels.

Fathouse Fabrications, the shop behind this car, claims this is the most powerful GT350R on the planet, sporting a ton of custom upgrades to handle all that extra power. It recently laid down an absurd 1497 rear-wheel horsepower on a dyno. It sounds absolutely manic, and it can run the quarter-mile in well under 10 seconds.

On its first visit to the strip, the car ran a 9.07-second quarter-mile at an impressive 161 mph at Lucas Oil Speedway in Indianapolis. That's faster than a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Not bad for a car originally built to tackle corners.

The shop says this is only the beginning for this GT350R. It plans to return and break into the eight-second range with a little more fine tuning. We'll be watching.
