Daniel Incandela's father, Sal, was a mechanic who worked in Formula One during the 1970s. Before he passed away in 2011, Daniel emailed him some questions about this experiences. Sal only had enough time to record a single tape in response before he passed away, and Daniel just mustered the will to listen to it for the first time. After listening to it, Daniel wrote on his dad's life, and what traditions of his father will be passed on to Daniel's son, Oliver.
There are plenty of period photos in the article, and more on Daniel's Flickr page. If you have nostalgic memories of sharing motorsports with your father, or even just an interest in what it was like to be a mechanic for a top-flight team in the 1970s, Daniel's article is worth a read.
And yes, that's dust in your eye. We'll go with that.
