The Wright Brothers? What do they have to do with Le Mans? Turns out that in 1908 Wilbur went to France to demonstrate their new flying machine. On August 8, 1908 at 6:25 p.m., Wilbur flew in what is now the infield of the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. In 1946, several groups including l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest, which organizes the 24-hour race, installed this remembrance of the flyers. If you ever want to see it, the monument is in the hippodrome across from famous Les Hunaudières Café on the Mulsanne Straight.
