Fans of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus in America are awakening to the unfortunate news that one of two SCG 003Cs entered in the Nurburgring 24 Hours, which takes place this weekend, was withdrawn after a shunt overnight. that experienced sportscar racer Ken Dobson was driving the No. 40 car when he put the car into a wall at around 125 mph. Thankfully, Dobson was unhurt.
At the moment, it seems that the car is repairable, just not in time for this weekend's race. That leaves the No. 9 car as the sole Glickenhaus entry. It's not great news for the SCG team, but at least no one was injured.
As you might recall, the SCG 003C is powered by a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged unit provided by Autotecnica Motori, based on Honda's HPD V6 race engine. Like virtually everything at this level of competition, it utilizes a carbon fiber monocoque and a paddle-shift gearbox, a Hewland in this case.
We hope to have more updates from Jim Glickenhaus shortly about what happened. When we do, we'll update you.
