Holden Racing team driver James Courtney has been hospitalized for the weekend after a pitlane accident.
During a navy helicopter flyover as part of an entertainment session for the V8 Supercars event at Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday, a piece of pit equipment became dislodged from the disturbance in the air and fell, striking Courtney in the ribs.
He was immediately taken to the trackside medical center, and then to the Westmead Hospital soon after.
Walkingshaw Racing boss Adrian Burgess told that Courtney is "stable, he's fine, he's not going to die on us but there is a bit of damage there."
An investigation is taking place, and all subsequent air displays have been cancelled.
