Ford has good news for anyone who loves the smell of molten car tires in the morning. The American automaker is supporting a three-stop world tour of rally driver . In case you're unfamiliar with the term, Gymkhana involves driving around cones or other obstacles in tire-smoking and handbrake-burning glory.
If you haven't seen Ken Block's insane Gymkhana driving antics online, then get yourself over to right this minute. Go on, we can wait. The American rally driver's pinpoint driving precision is amazing to watch (not to mention a little frightening). It comes as no surprise that Ford and Block have decided to bring this driving madness to the masses.
Block has already piloted his specially prepped Ford Fiesta at the tour's first stop in Vienna, Austria, on July 10. Next up is the United States, where Block will rip around Dodger Stadium on July 23, prior to the beginning of X Games 17. The tour concludes ahead of the Rally Australia at Calder Park in Melbourne on September 2-3. Block has apparently designed the courses himself; so expect plenty of fireworks and lots of replacement tires.
"I'm really excited about my Gymkhana World Tour this summer. I'm delighted that Ford is continuing to support my love of Gymkhana in the way that they are," said Block. "It's something that I really enjoy doing and the fans love it as well, so to have Ford on board as I go to do this sort of thing is amazing."
