Back in the late '70s and early '80s, Fiat had a thing for rallying. It was good at it, too, winning the World Rally Championship with the legendary 131 Abarth three times during that period.
According to a , Fiat is headed back to WRC to try it again with a rally-tuned version of the 124 Spider. 2017 is the supposed entry date, coinciding with the 124 Spider's on-sale date. It's also rumored to compete in a new sports car category.
The even better news is that there will supposedly be a road-going Abarth-tuned version that would make more than 200 horsepower from the car's 1.4-liter MultiAir engine. Add on a matte-black hood and an optional hardtop, and you've got a recipe for one seriously cool little car.
Is there anything cooler than taking a sports car rallying? No, not really.
