England's Leena Gade, whose skills and success have earned considerable notoriety in a male-dominated sport, will step down from her position after the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June to assume a new management role within sister brand Bentley.
"Leena Gade, the race engineer for the number "7" Audi R18, will be leaving Audi Sport after the Le Mans 24 Hours," Audi confirmed in a statement . "However, she is breaking in her successor, Erik Schuivens, in testing and racing operations. His involvement will begin with the season opener at Silverstone."
Gade had been searching for a different career challenge since late 2015 when she was under consideration for a management position in America at the IMSA sports car series, and was also mentioned as a possible race engineer for an Indy 500 program in May.
It's believed Gade will work with Bentley in a leadership role within its customer racing efforts.
